The Association of Consulting Engineers Nigeria, ACEN, was founded in 1972 and registered in 1979. Its objective is the development of Consulting Engineering practice in Nigeria by the mobilization of private sector Engineering Consultants for the advancement of the Consulting Engineering sub-sector of the built environment.

The focus of this effort is to ensure that the highest level of technical competence and business ethics are brought to bear on the practice of the profession in Nigeria.

The Association would be organising a conference titled  ‘Engineering is Development: A multi-dimensional framework for National Development’ in Abuja from the 8th to 10th of November, 2010 this event is focused on discussing the role of engineering in national development and promises to be both instructive and enlightening to participants.
